New Release - VSM19-X UHV Compatible Stage

We are pleased to announce the launch of the VSM19-X, AML's new high-performance UHV compatible linear stage. Designed for seamless integration into complex vacuum systems, this new design builds upon the success of the VSM17-X stage but with significantly increased axial load capacity. By also incorporating integrated limit switches and a D-sub connector as standard, the VSM19-X reduces setup complexity while improving the performance and features of the standard stage.

Key Features:

Integrated Limit Switches:

The base of the VSM19-X is designed to incorporate 2x VLS3 UHV compatible limit switches as standard. These provide a repeatable position at each end of the stages travel, giving users a greater degree of control. Limit switch behaviour can be configured through the SMD4 stepper motor drive.

Integrated D-sub Connector:

The VSM19-X features an integrated 15-way D-sub connector. Our new range of in-vacuum cables are designed to interface with this connector for simple stage connection and swapping—no complicated wiring required. These cables are designed to match our airside SMD4 cables, making it simple to choose complete cabling configurations.

High Axial Load Capacity:

The VSM19-X is designed for applications with high load requirements. With option HR, the VSM19-X has a rated axial load capacity of 50 kg (@ 1000 Hz, 1 A phase current). This makes it the ideal solution for transporting large masses in vertical orientations or complex multi-axis configurations.

Standard Options:

Option SS - Major components use 304L stainless steel. Bakeable temperature increases to 200 °C.
Option HR - Adds a SG35-005 UHV inline spur gearhead. This increases the full step resolution of the stage to 1 µm. Axial load capacity increased to 50 kg. Maximum speed is reduced to 3 mm/s.
Option ER/EA - Incremental (ER) and absolute (EA) encoder modules. Encoders can be controlled with the SMD4-E. Maximum temperature reduces to 120°C when an optical encoder is fitted.

Option R - Adapts the stage so that it is radiation hardened, making it compatible with a total dose of 1E6 Gy of gamma radiation.

Alongside the standard options, the VSM19-X can be modified to suit your specific requirements. Examples of custom modifications include a custom mounting pattern on the stage's carriage to interface with your load.
