UHV-Compatible 4-Axis Mechanism
Posted on Tuesday 22nd March 2022 at 9:45
Working closely with a customer, AML have designed and manufactured this custom 4-axis mechanism. This unique mechanism has been specifically configured for use in the customer's UHV environment, for their application. The mechanism is driven by our UHV compatible stepper motors and features LTVL-400 and LTVL-250 linear stages. An RSX3K6 rotation stage provides the rotational axis. Due to the size of the mechanism, an additional LTV-400 is used to support the X-axis. Vacuum: 1E-7 mBar Temperat... Read more
New Release - AML Device Control Software
Posted on Thursday 13th January 2022 at 14:01
We are pleased to announce the release of the new AML Device Control Software. This software aims to provide a platform where AML devices can be simultaneously controlled in a single easy-to-use interface. Designed and developed in-house, it will be actively updated as our range of products expand. The current version of the software supports the SMD3 stepper motor drive. Future releases will add support for other controllers such as the NGC3 ion gauge controller and SMD210 stepper motor c... Read more
UHV-Compatible Custom 6-Axis Manipulator
Posted on Wednesday 10th November 2021 at 12:16
As a design and manufacturing specialists of in-vacuum motion systems, AML can accommodate your application-specific requirements. We were contacted by a customer requiring a UHV-compatible 6-axis manipulator for a high-energy synchrotron radiation source application. Working closely with the customer, we designed a custom manipulator stage using a combination of our standard LTX linear translators and custom designed linear, rotation and goniometer stages. The customer provided the travel and l... Read more
Operation of vacuum stepper motors
Posted on Friday 2nd July 2021 at 10:00
Stepper motors are typically digitally controlled using a stepper motor drive and can’t be driven in the same manner as a conventional AC/DC universal motor. They are the main components in open-loop motion-control positioning systems as they are capable of achieving clearly defined rotational positions, speeds and torques making them ideally suited to tasks requiring highly accurate and precise movement control. Our vacuum compatible stepper motors share the same basic operating principle... Read more
NGC3 Control - Version 1.1
Posted on Monday 8th March 2021 at 15:39
We are pleased to announce an update for the NGC3 Control software, version 1.1. This new release replaces the NGC2 Demonstration Program and provides a new, simpler user interface for controlling NGC2, NGC2D and NGC3 Ion Gauge Controllers.New features include: Automatically connects to a controller - no need to specify a COM port Multiple instances can be open to control multiple controllers Only available controls are clickable (for example, if an ion gauge c...
